Outlook 2007 issues

I have installed Office 2007. While in Outlook in some email I have a red
bar that keeps going from left to right and the top of the email. I also
keep geeting an error that says: "Outlook could not create the work file.
Check the temp environment variable." Anytime I try to open an email this
message comes up. This message also comes up when I try to open word. Now I
had Office 2003 installed before and it was running fine. Is this a known
issue? I could not locate it on MS web-site. How can I fix this?

Thanks,

CEV

A bad Word document template, perhaps?

See if this helps:

The link to a
solution--http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=823589&SiteID=17--appears
to no longer be valid. I'm getting the same error ("Outlook could not create
the work file. Check the temp environment variable.") Can you hook me up
with the solution that worked for CEV?

Thank you!

As you say, that article is gone. However, if you check the value of your
TEMP environment variable and make suire it's pointing somewhere valid,
perhaps that will be the solution. Open a command prompt window, type SET,
then press Enter. Look for "TEMP" and "TMP" and see that they point to a
valid path. If they don't, change them to be what they should be. Also see
the "Check the TEMP Folder" section of this article:

I'm getting the same error but in Microsoft Word 2007. I don't know how to
tell if the value of my temp environment variable is pointing somewhere
valid. It says, %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp
Is that valid???
It won't let me save anything until it is fixed

If you open Windows Explorer and enter

%temp%

in the Address bar and click Go, do you see a valid folder? Does it contain
anything?

Does anyone have a clue about this? I have a client with this same problem
and have had absolutely no luck finding a solution or replicating on another
machine.
