Outlook 2003 not sending emails for one account

Hi All,
I have two accounts setup under outlook 2003 which i just started using
on a brand new dell computer. My sbcglobal Home account works fine but
Work account will not send emails. I receive this error message:
"Task 'Work - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation
timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).', "when trying to check my email.

Also, if I use the test settings buttons under the account setup
screen, I get this message:
"Send test e-mail message: The specified server was found, but there
was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL
information is correct. To access these setting close this dialog,
then click More Settings and click on the Advanced tab."

I have tried temporarily disabling my virus software which is pc-cillin
internet security 14 if that helps and still the same issues. These
same settings worked with outlook 2000 and outlook express and now I
cannot get it to work. I assure I have tried all the standard fixes
like uninstalling and reinstalling...I even went to a working station
at the office and looked at the seetings there and mine are identical
in every way. Anyone know how to solve this issue?

Thanks!
Tony

Yes your message got here!

As the Test error message says the server was found (so probably the correct
SMTP details) but not the correct port or SSL (encryption) settings. [Sorry
for restating the error message]

Have you got the account working in Outlook Express or still on your old
PC? If so reply to confirm.

Otherwise I am going to make a (very reasonable) assumption and give you the
details of how to turn SSL on...

In Outlook...

Tools | Email Accounts
Click NEXT button
Click on your works email name in the white box
Click CHANGE button
Click MORE SETTINGS
Advanced Tab
Tick 'This server requires an encrypted connection'
Click OK

Now hit the test again.

Keep us informed.

Thanks for the reply and I have already tried that and unfortunately
that did not work at all. The strange thing is is I have it setup
EXACTLY like at the office, the computer at the office runs outlook
2000, and still nothing. In addition, when I was in the office on a
daily basis I setup all the emails for every employee, so I am very
fimilar with the settings and they are fairly simple, standard
settings. I am inclined to believe it is some sort of bug within
Outlook 2003...but so far all the interenet research I have done has
brought me no real answers of substance. Could you or anyone else
suggest anything else?

No bugs (well for your probalem at least!)

Have you or anyone else ever had it working outside the office? It may be
your company only allows email from internal IP addresses for SPAM reasons
etc. I think its time to ask your network administrator.

Yes I have had it working outside the office for almost a year now with
the same settings as I have always used until I started using outlook
2003. My network admin, she is more like an executive assistant, is
not technically savvy enough to even know what you said, even means
LOL.

Totally at a loss at this point on what to do but the research will
continue I assure you lol...I have this problem with giving up...I
can't!
