OT Football question

Sorry, this is off topic, but I cant seem to find anywhere else to
ask.

During Superbowl 08
Was it the 3rd or 4th quarter, I cant recall. I'm not sure which team
it was against either. But at one point, there was a violation called
because some guy was on the field, and was given 5 seconds to get off,
but there was some sort of dispute that he was airborne going over the
line at the 5th second.

I'm not that much up on all the rules and small details of football.
Can someone please explain what was going on, who was this guy, why
was he on the field, who was penalized and what penalty did they get?
I was shaking my head after that whole ordeal. Can someone please
explain what went on.

One other thing, toward the end of the game, they showed the Patriots
in a huddle. One of them had some sort of reading material he seemed
to pull out from his wrist, as if it was on a roller. I guess it
contained some rules or something. What is that thing and how does it
work?

Is this Superbowl 08 in Aberdeen, Scotland? I haven't heard of it yet.
What am I missing? Can I get drunk there? Do they do topless stuff?
Must I be 21? If I am 65 does that stop me from going in? Bugger that.
Now I don't WANT to go in. STUFF the Superbowl 08...in Aberdeen,
Scotland or any OTHER town in Scotland.

12 men on the field. Pats got a first down out of the penalty on NY.

It's the quarterback's play list.

The NFL rule for "too many players on the field" is not a five-second rule.
There may be only eleven players within the field of play when the ball is
snapped. In the rather unusual case last Sunday, the Giants' defensive
player was not technically "on" (touching) the field, but his leg/foot was
still "within" the field of play as he stepped onto the sidelines.
