Notebook shuts down on startup

Upon starting, when the Windows screen appears, the computer totally shuts
down, power is killed. It does the same when selecting Safe Mode and Last
Known Good Point.

I ran a scan on the HDD from a different computer and found no virus using
Mc Affee.


Can anyone render an opinion of what may be wrong, or can someone direct me
to instructions on how to restore from DOS?
