I am trying to include music in a Powerpoint presentation. I have ripped the
CD tracks and are embedded in the hard disc. When I insert music from file
everything goes fine but when the presentation starts no music can be heard.
I have configured Windows Media Player to be the default of all kinds of
music playing. I have done presentations before with no problems but now I
don't know what is happening. Please help!!!!!!!

Hi ed,

There are a lot that can go wrong with sound in PowerPoint. What I would
check first is the length of the path to the sound files. There is a limit
to how long the path can be and still be found by the media player. Try
copying the sounds to a folder directly off the c: drive (like
c:\PptSound\track1.mp3). Re-insert the sounds into your PowerPoint and see
if they play. It doesn't take long to get to 200+ characters when using
long file/folder names.

Just as a side note, 99.9% of all PowerPoint sounds are linked from the
presentation, not embedded within it. This will become important should you
want to move/mail the presentation to another directory/computer.
