Movies and sounds in PowerPoint

I have two questions about playing sounds and video on a PPT show:

..Movies: I'm having problems when I insert an mpeg2 file on a powerpoint
presentation. The files run fine on Windows media player but in the slide
show appears a black box instead. Do you know if there is any incompatibility
of PPT with the mpeg2 files? When I use an AVI I don't have any problem.

..Sound: I'm used to receive PPS files with music embeded, but I don't know
how to do it. The only way that I know to insert music is using the Insert
sound option but then I need to send the presentation together with the sound
file otherwise the sound doesn't play.
