Hi,

I am inserting a shoirt movie file (test.avi) into a Powerpoint
presentation.

The movie plays fine, but there is no sound.

Mute is not selected and volume has been moved up to full.

If I Record Narration on th next slide then this plays fine.

Could this be a Codec issue? The avi file is recorded from a webcam?

Thanks,
Simon keeling

Could this be a Codec issue?

Could be.

Try this (on windows xp)

start button > run > mplay32

file open > navigate to the movie

click play button

do you hear sound?

If it will not work with the mplay32 then I don't believe it will work in
powerpoint.

What you could do is run it through 'plays for certain' - then chances are
it WILL work just fine.

Thanks for your help. However, PFC will only allow me to send the file
as an email?

I am using Vista, but the file did work fine when I played it in a
standard windows media player.

Thanks for all your help,
Simon
