Movie doesn't play in Powerpoint 2007

Hello,
I've MS Powerpoint 2007 installed. When inserting a movie in a slide, it
plays only the sound, and then the screen is black. I think it is not a codec
thing, coz I can play the movie separately out of powerpoint in windows media
player, and it works fine. So, what may cause this ? and any solution for it ?

Regards..

What type of movie file is being played? I have had issues in the past with
some .mpg files. I convert all my movies I will show in PPT to .wmv files
prior to insertion. PPT uses a different "player" than the one when you
play the movie outside of PPT.

Is this on the computer's screen or on a projected screen from a laptop?

The movie is .avi
I tested the video to play on my desktop PC, it worked fine in the PPT. But
on my laptop, it didn't work. Just worked outside PPT.

Thanks

Your laptop doesn't have the proper codec to run the movie. .AVI file type
is only a container for various video formats. See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave for more information
(although this isn't the definitive answer to your issue.)

Still recommend converting to .wmv prior to inserting into PPT. There are
cheap or even free video converters on the web. I use the paid for version
of http://www.videozilla.net/ but try the download trial to see if it does
what you want or choose another program.
