New ws cannot login to existing SBS 4.5 account

I am replacing a Win98 work station with an XP Pro based system. When I specifiy the existing user and domain I get a message that says "The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correc....
I can use the same credentials on other systems without problems. I can also log in using other domain user cred's. I have even use the domain browse to create the user and still get the same message. Any ideas?
