Can't get passed the windows xp pro login...HELP!

Happy Thanksgiving! I pray someone is out there to help...My other laptop
won't let me get past the windows login screen. I think yesterday I somehow
changed it from the old domain to a workgroup. Now, when I try to login, it
doesn't show the domain box in options, but reads:

"The system could not log me on . Make sure your User name and domain are
correct, then type your password again...[in proper case]" - dialog box from
xp.

I don't know how to get past this. I tried to login as an Administrator
with no password but it still doesn't know what domain to go...I remember
back in the day being able to switch a jumper on the mother board, but that
was acient times. I wouldn't know where to start with a laptop anyway.

Press F8 during the 'black screen' portion of a restart, right after the
BIOS startup screen. Enter the Safe Mode option and use System Restore to go
back to before your changes.
