I have an issue with an XP client. The user of the system could all of a
sudden not log in using his login. Whenever he tries to login he gets the
standard "Windows could not log you in. Please check password and or domain"
(or words to that effect!)
So I tried the user's login on another machine and he can login as normal on
another PC. So I turned my attention back to the problem machine. I can
login as both the local and domain administrator fine. I can login as myself
(or anyone else fine). It is just this user that cannot login. So I decided
to remove his user account from the control panel (he is a Local Admin BTW)
and then use System Properties...User Profiles... to wipe the account.
However the problem account keep's reappearing back in the list of user
accounts on the machine after a reboot! It shows up with correct domain but
does not list what group the user is a member of. Can my login problem and
the reappearing persitant account be linked? Any ideas how to fix it?
