Network Servers not displayed in Network Neighborhood

This is a problem that comes and goes. On various pcs
in our company, the servers "drop" from view. This
becomes a major problem on our backup machine because
when the servers "drop" from view, the backup machine
cannot "see" them to back them up. We've been flushing
the dns and registering the dns but nothing seems to fix
it permanently. We are running Windows 2000 servers.
Any ideas?
