Mystery Hardware Problem

I am running Windows XP professional. Recently whenever Windows starts up the
System Properties window opens with the Hardware tab displayed. Yet Device
Manager does not report any hardware problems and everything on my system
appears to be working ok. The only thing that I have noticed is that on boot
up there is about a 45 second pause after the IDE scan. A review of the BIOS
settings shows no obvious problems. This is also a recent development that
appears to be linked to the Windows System Properties issue.
Any ideas?

Open system Information...
Start | Run | Type: msinfo32 | Click OK |
Click the [+] next to Software Environment.
Click on Startup Programs.
Look in the right hand pane for sysdm.cpl (System Properties).

Or even Sysdm.cpl,System,2 This opens System Properties @ the Hardware tab.

control Sysdm.cpl,System,2 pasted into the Run command will also open System
Properties @ the Hardware tab.

Hope this helps. Let us know.
