Spurious 'found new hardware'

The found new hardware wizard keeps starting up, and after asking me for a
driver disk (which I ignore) finds nothing, then leaves an 'unknown device'
entry with no properties/details under 'other devices' in Device Manager.
All other device manager entries are ok.

AFAICT I haven't changed any hardware at all recently, everything is working
fine. Any quick checks I could do?
