Found new hardware problem

I am using Windows XP Home SP2 and have recently encountered the problem of the windows "found new hardware" wizard appearing on boot up although no new hardware has been added. This has happened twice now since installing Sysoftware Sandra Lite 2005 and MS Visual C# 2005 Express Editon. As a matter of interest, I stepped through the hardware wizard on both occasions in online and offline mode but it failed to install anything. Needless to say device manager then shows a problematic device which can then be uninstalled without further incident.

Can anyone tell me why this is please, as I am interested to know?
