Ok.. I just installed xp sp2, and under the Virus Protection tab it says that Norton antivirus reports that it is installed, but its status is unknown.. any ideas?

Normal.
Many anti virus companies have not yet made the necessary changes so
Windows can monitor their behavior.
Norton is still functioning properly.

Also in the future, you should take SP2 questions to a SP2 newsgroup:
