modem driver preventing system stand by

I asked about this before and it was suggested I go to the modem's
system properties and deselect "use in this power profile". Well,
there is nothing in this modem's properties about any "power profile".
It is a Conexant modem on Win xp home.

Any suggestions??

I changed the driver to a generic driver but that didn't help. I did
disable the modem, but upon a reboot it seems to have re-enabled itself, and
the modem driver somehow changed back to the Conexant.
