Welcome to the forums Pete :)

This could be down to a number of issues, but if it happens from the very start you can rule out a software problem. It could be a low CMOS battery, BIOS problem or many other things.

Does this problem happen after a full shutdown, or just when the PC is in sleep/hibernate mode? Does it do this from battery power and mains power? Also, is the laptop still under warranty? :)

You could also try a "hard reset" for the PSU:

To perform a hard reset, unplug the AC power adapter and remove the battery, and then press and hold down the Power button for about 6 seconds. This will drain any residual charge in the capacitors and reset the power management controls to their default condition.

Some more stuff I found out....

The laptop wont boot with just the battery. Anther thing if you take the battery out it wont boot with jus the power. It will only boot up second time with the power and the battery all in togeather. The battery lasts 15mins which it will need a new one of course.

If your in windows and do a restart or shut down you still have to do 2 powers on and of to boot the laptop. Also starting from scratch 2 powers on and of for it to boot up second time.

Hiya just tried the hard reset still the same. CMOS battery the drivers seem to hold there settings and the time and date are ok to. Not had no error messages coming up either.
