Does you computer have USB 2 ports? Check it's manual.

USB 2 ports, not 2 USB ports. USB 2 are faster than normal USB ports -
they're "high speed". Your iPod should still function fine on a regular USB
port. Data will just not transfer as fast. It really isn't a big deal
unless you transfer LOTS of data...

no, it doesn't work. The iPod shows up that it is plugged into the comp and
it charges, but it doesn't show up in iTunes and unless it shows up on iTunes
it's useless cos i can't put songs onto it then. so im really stuck cos i've
plugged it into ever possible USB port i can find!

I'd suggest installing the latest iPod Updater (6-28-06) and the latest
iTunes+QuickTine (6.0.5), then update the ipod's firmware and then try
again. If that updater can't talk to the iPod then you DO have a problem.

Warning: these are two VERY big downloads, 58 and 38 MBytes respect. If
you don't have broadband then it'll take over night easily. COME ON APPLE,
A 58 MB FIRMWARE UPDATER!!! Break 'em apart by model, please!!!!

Also, the new firmware will ONLY work w/ the latest iTunes (which MAY be
your issue, in fact), as the DRM scheme has been tweaked (again).
