Ipod Not Recognized By Comp

I had my ipod (30gb video) plugged into the usb port when my computer crashed
and needed a reboot. I unintentionally disconnected it prior to the reboot
when it said "do not disconnect" and now when I try to plug it in my computer
does not acknowledge the ipod at all. I took it back to the apple store and
it came right up when they plugged it in. They restored it for me anyway
assuming that my comp would treat it like a new ipod but it still doesn't.
All my kids ipods still work just fine on the same cables and port I am
trying to use. I know the ipod works fine. How can I get my comp to
recognize my ipod?

Maybe an extreme suggestion, and someone might offer a better one.

First, try another USB port, failing that, check your device manager and see
if any have a Yellow Exclamation marks by them?

Maybe reset the machine into Safe mode, and then reset back into normal, I
had a problem with a USB 7 in 1 card reader wouldn't work, so I did the safe
mode and back to normal thing, and it started again.

Also, if you have all the driver discs for your USB stuff on the machine,
you could, from the device manager, uninstall all the USB references and
reset, and let the machine find them again?

Again, maybe a bit extreme, but maybe you could use it as your *final*
option, just incase things go worse.

Regards.
