Ipod doesn't work on new USB 2.0 ports

I am using Windows XP Home SP2 with an AMD Athlon Processor.
I have recently installed a USB 2.0 PCI card.

Everything seems to work in the USB 2.0 ports except my Ipod.

To charge the ipod and transfer files I have to revert to the old USB ports.

I know the Ipod is USB 2.0 compatible, because when I plug it into the old
USB port I get an alert informing me that
"This device can work faster when pugged into a hi speed USB Port"

I can click the alert box and it shows the 4 USB 2.0 ports that I installed.

Can anyone help me please as I cannot understand why the ipod is not being
picked up by the USB 2.0 ports.
When I plug it into the USB 2.0 ports I get the following alert:
"USB Device Not Recognised"

If the USB device is not recognised, how can it be recognised when I plug it
into the original USB port?

I do not have the original ipod software as it was bought second hand.

Is there anything that can be done to resolve this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance
John

Go to the Apple website, download the latest version of iTunes. It's free,
so there's no reason not to be using the latest version.

I work for a major electrical retailer and in my experience 95% of people
returning a 'faulty' iPod don't have one, they simply need to refresh the
software.

Itunes software should have no effect on the IPOD and the USB port. You
don't need Itunes to plug in the IPOD, such as to charge it.

I encountered a "similar" problems with my add-on USB 2.0 adapter in
2007, for my wireless USB adapters. Turned out the USB 2.0 card was
using a Ali chip as the USB controller. Switched to a Belkin USB 2.0
card (NEC chip) and my problems disappeared.
