Items that use USB ports aren't recognized such as Ipod with Intun

Anything that uses a USB port to connect to the computer isn't recognized or
brought up. I noticed this when my ipod couldn't be found on Itunes. The
Device Manage says the USB ports are all working properly but none have
worked. I would love an answer if anyone could help me out.

Sorry that I cannot give you a solution but I have the same problems.
Plug and play items installed a long time ago still function but new bought
equipment like a Olympus digital camera or a hard disk or a mouse of a
wellknown make are not recognised whether they come with a installation CD or
not.
Operating system is XP Professional.
Hope that somebody can help.

Same here. In my case, it doesn't go beyond step 1, i.e. it will identify a
wireless mouse as a USB receiver, then try to look for USB receiver drivers
instead of going ahead and detecting it as a USB HID [which is what happened
in a friends computer].
