I have a hP697c printer, about 5 years old, and a new
Dell laptop. I have a USB to parallel printer cable and
everything looks fine but printer will not print. I am
told I need a patch from HP to reconfigure my printer to
XP. Any info?

Have you looked at the HP website at www.hp.com? It should be under the
printer drivers for your model.
