Indians won't employ him for his views about human rights and all that
nonsense. Indians don's like people who asks for rights when people are
starving.

I blame unions for destroying jobs - not indians or chinese. At the end
of the day, USA has to operate in global economy and so it can't afford
to have costs spiralling out of control.

Actually, you've got it wrong.

Employees across the world will start demanding higher wages as they
start realizing their value and how much profit the companies they work
for are making. The demand for higher wages by foreign workers will
eventually cause the off shore benefit to diminish and due to the
complexities, the work will move back to the local country.

All things being even, wages being near the same, there is no benefit in
moving anything off-shore. There are still some places that offer things
like no pollution standards, no taxes, and slaves, but that too will
change as the wage earners increase their socioeconomic status.

No..........Thats exactly the point I made - the Market will correct
itself

Very ironic to observe comments from our British bretheren over the last few
years. (I'm a first generation yank of British parents.) Not too long ago,
UK was the greatest economic and military power on the planet, was the most
technologically advanced, and controlled the largest empire ever assembled.
That's why India speaks English. But talk about economic decay!! Who owns
Rolls-Royce/Bentley, Jaguar, Aston-Martin, MG/Rover? Need I say more? Yet
they persist in their vocal laissez-faire, socialistic policies, and
criticize us for not following in their footsteps. Brilliant!
Who is criticsizing you? Certainly not me I don't live in the UK I
can't afford socialist policies I am forced to live on an offshore tax
haven.

I just believe in the Market and its tendancy to correct itself
eventually sometimes with violence. Industry, Jobs, everything flow
direct from the market no matter what the politics are unless you want
to have a go at communism

hmmmmm that'll be the day.

The UK got stuffed because of poor quality and high prices consumers
stopped buying our stuff - end of.

Blame GREED - start with the Board of Directors/President of a company,
then the share holders, then the management, then the workers, then the
customers that want cheaper products.

In the ever increasing world of "I need more" this won't stop - greed is
the simple cause.

What I see happening is that the IT infrastructure around the world is
reaching a point where we've made it possible to remotely do anything.
That means I that the wages and value around the world will be leveling
to some standard and that any country that doesn't level off with the
average will be unable to compete - it's going to happen, it's already
started (see India IT workers now making $25/hr and asking for more)...

Agreed. Still, in my area, IT workers believe they should get $50 to $75
per hour. That's old hat. Times have changed. Still, $25/hour is a good
wage.

That's a false assumption. It's essentailly the same "assumption" that
the Bush administration has incorrectly "assumed" is the current deal.
But its NOT.

What do people use coal for in the 21st century? What happened to all
that nuclear power and gas you use to pollute this planet?

Is it true that these coal mines are there so that miners can keep
voting for the president for giving them a job for doing absolutely
nothing?

In UK coal mines have all but gone. Miners were defeated by Mrs
Thatcher when she was our premier in the 80s.

We are just about to build some more nuclear power stations to meet our
needs. Brittain is booming!

Coal is used in the steel industry, for generating power and many other
things. While not as big as the oil industry it is close.

In UK you can make £400 per day with special skills such as Ms SQL
server, Oracle/SAP DB etc. This works out at £50 per hour.

We charge just under $100/hr to most clients, and we pay about 70% of
that to the team, but they have to cover their own benefits and such.

For some special skills, security, routers, etc.. we charge a LOT more.

Worked in the electric power generation business. Our
companies had 34 coal-fired plants, 18 natural gas turbine
plants, and six nuclear plants.

You don't understand. No licenses have been issued
for a new nuke plant in two decades because (1) they're
very expensive, (2) people don't want them in their own
backyards, and (3) with Senator Harry Reid of NV
blocking the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site from
opening, there's no place to put the dangerous nuclear
waste.

Great Britain is doing very well indeed. The only mistake Tony Blair
made was to follow George Bush blindly. British econony is at its
strongest in the last 30 years or so. Employers can't find enough
workers to do certain skilled jobs. This is partly due to previous
conservative party not invested enough in education and training. This
is being corrected under Tony blair.

Tony blair is not popular at present because of his stance towards Iraq
and his affiliation with George Bush. He did very well when he
supported Bill Clinton.

My answer is D " ALL OF THE ABOVE ". I totally agree. Before long the
USA will only have HIGH paying jobs for Musicians, Sports Athletes, and
Doctors. Which all of these will be basically going broke because we
americans won't be able to afford to go to the doctor, a football game,
or a concert... so thats out the window. The only hope is to become a
cop to help fight the crime wave of millions of broke americans
stealing and killing from whoever has a dollar to their name .. just to
feed their own families.

If something doesn't change, our great country is headed for poverty.
so does China

The USA is on the decline, just like Rome. Bush & Co. are trying to rape
the world, not control it and it will backfire on them. The USA now
enjoys the worst reputation overseas that ever before. As an American, I
am ashamed.
Oh dear....
America is on the decline....wow, original. Never heard that b4.
Bush fixes elections and then bombs the shi*t out of civilians to
promote his "democracy and freedom" while he systematically strips
Americans of the civil rights.
Fixes elections?
You mean wins the electoral college but loses the popular vote....like for
example John Kennedy did, but Bush fixed it eh? Does that mean Kennedy fixed
it in the sixties? Clinton served two terms and never won the popular vote,
in either, does that mean he fixed them?
Bombs civilians? Where?
Strips civil liberties? Which ones?
Advice to young people: learn Chinese.
Which dialect of Chinese? There are about 50 and those are only the major
ones.
Why learn Chinese? If we're talking about fixing elections, the Chinese
don't have elections, its just the Communicst party, which I suppose makes
things simple. Civil liberties? Would you rather be arrested in Beijing or in
Washington? Its more exciting in Beijing for sure, the laws are made up as
you go along...depending up on your cercumstances....
But we should learn Chinese eh?
They're going to take over eh?

Well, maybe, but then maybe not.

Have fun.
