But you guys are like the Mormons and Jehovah witness's in that part of
being accepted is that you have to troll through the neighborhoods,in this
case newsgroups, and spew out your unwanted propaganda. At least with the
Mormons and JW's they take No a lot better and leave quietly, so it's at
least hard to hate them

Actually, I heard about Ubuntu (thanks NoStop) in these very MS
newsgroups and went and got it so you're wrong.

When I first started working with Mandrake and SUSE I posted a couple
questions about accessing my Windows 2000 server from them and got flamed
with enough heat to melt the world.

Many of the people in the linux community are young zealots that look for
ways to inflame and cause hate.

That's true of Windows zealots too. Just read a few posts right here to
verify. I ignore zealots, regardless of what OS they use.

One question I have about Linux. . .if it's so good, why do millions
pay for Windows rather than use Linux for free? I know, Windows is
already installed on most new computers (the rest being Macs, and even
Mac had to include Windows compatibility to remain competitive), but
that doesn't explain the OEM versions that are sold vs. Linux.

That person, Roy Schestowitz, appears to be some kind of a uber zealot
who lives over on digg.com and comp.os.linux.advocacy.
His motives are more than likely sincere, but his methods which
include spamming the group with Vista hate material are crude.

It's interesting that you compare Linux users to religious zealots
because someone over on www.digg.com compared Roy Schestowitz to Pat
Robertson.
Here is the link

http://tinyurl.com/ysrz8u

"Schestowitz is to Linux as Pat Robertson is to christanity. He drives
away more people than he converts."

There are a ton of real funny comments about Roy Schestowitz on that
page.
Apparently he is a few bricks short of a full load.

What am I wrong about ? Posting about going to Linux in a Windows Support
forums is still wrong. The poster(s) have been asked to stop nicely (and not
so nicely), yet they refuse to. And Mormons and Jehovah Witness's do tend to
be a lot more polite and don't keep knocking on my door 5 mins after I just
sent them away.

You learned about a flavor of Linux and you like it Great ! I'm sure a
google search would have done the same thing. So you think we should have
Linux people post 10 times a day, try Linux it's better in a support forum ?
Should I go over to the Supreme Commander Support Forum and post 10 times a
day to switch over to Battlefield 2142 ?

The Mormons and JW's are a minority group, but they still get converts every
now and then. But that doesn't mean the majority of people want them to show
up at their door every night (in most cases at all), Why would a Windows
Support forums want people to post about Linux all the time and it's not
like it's in a subtle, "Hey you should give this a look over" kinda way.
Most of this stuff is just spam, Spam works because there are people who
actually buy stuff because of spam, but most people despise spam.

So are you one of those people who buys stuff from spam mail ?

Linux guys: keep up the preasure! maybee you can get MSto bring back an
opperating system as easy to use and powerful as DOS was. Less bells an
whistles to lock up the computer and more streamlined access to applications.

Friendly? They are only friendly if you are in full compliance with Linux
and denounce Microsoft.

Enough of the OS bashing. I use both. Linux is fine for servers and a
basic office environment and is very cost-effective for those things. But
for more cutting edge needs, Vista has a definite advantage.

By the way, when it comes to applications, free does not necessarily equal
good.. Does Linux have a good flight simulator, or good games that can
match what runs on Vista? Can you get drivers for your peripherals as
quickly or easily as for any version of Windows?

Please stop trolling.

Well the average Joe knows what Windows is...but likely hasn't even ever
heard the word "Linux" before...and even if, has no idea what it actually
is.

If you spend nearly as much time and effort with Viata as you do learning
and making things work with linux you'll be an expert at Vista!!!! so don't
blow the linux horn to loud!!

Well, in Apple's case it is because they insist on making you buy their
hardware to run the OS. There is no reason they have to do it that way
though since they went Intel. I expect a lot of people would buy Mac OSX is
they allowed it to install to PC hardware easily.

Linux sucks.

112,000,000 pirate Windows users can't be wrong.

Speak for yourself. I have both Linux and XP on all three of my
computers. I paid for each of the XP copies. I don't do pirated software.

That no one has learned of Linux on a Windows newsgroup, of course!

Posting about going to Linux in a Windows
Support forums is still wrong. The poster(s) have been asked to stop

Witness's do tend to be a lot more polite and don't keep knocking on my

You're free to do whatever you want to do.
The Mormons and JW's are a minority group, but they still get converts
every now and then.

Actually, the Mormons are the fastest growing religion in the world
today. Note, I am not a Mormon.

But that doesn't mean the majority of people want
them to show up at their door every night (in most cases at all), Why
would a Windows Support forums want people to post about Linux all the

look over" kinda way. Most of this stuff is just spam, Spam works

LOL! Suggesting that people try out Linux is not spam. Spam is generated
to make money.
So are you one of those people who buys stuff from spam mail ?

Of course not, although your lame insult is noted.
