Excel stops working when I try to change font color

Somebody please help me! I have the Office Professional Plus 2007 suite, and
the Excel on it is not cooperating. Every time I try to change the font color
a box comes up saying that a problem has caused Microsoft Excel to stop
working correctly. It also says Windows will close the program and notify me
if a solution is available. Evidently there isn't a solution available, as I
have not been given a solution. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how
did you fix it? I'm getting very frustrated since the whole reason I bought
the software was to be able to do my homework at home. The first time I used
it, it worked fine. Could one of the updates have messed it up? I'd
appreciate any help.

I'm replying to my own post. I've never been in this post thing before, so I
was in the wrong area and didn't see the posts pertaining to the same problem
I'm having. I still don't see a solution though. Does Microsoft know why this
is happening?

Hi Jan,

Thank you for responding. Yes, it does happen on any workbook. Does it have
something to do with Vista having issues with printer drivers? I seen that
someone else changed their printer default ( I have an HP C4140) , so I tried
it and it worked. My Excel didn't crash when I tried to change font color,
but having to change the printer default is an inconvenience. Is there any
other way to fix the problem, besides getting rid of my Vista software?

Sincerely,
Brin

I'd start to look for an update of the driver first. Sometimes your printer
works just as good with a driver from an older model too.
Also, it might be good to report the issue with the driver manufacturer.

I have the same problem. I have HP B9180 printer. Since we are have to
different printers with different drivers. I don't think the problem is
caused by the printer driver. I think it is a Vista problem. And even if
there is a problem with the printer driver Excel should not stop working.
