Changing font color hangs excel

When I try to change a font color, it hangs excel. The cursor turns to an
hourglass when inside the Excel main area. (It turns to a pointer on the
title bar and at the borders and outside the excel window.)

I suspect Norton Internet Security (2005), but I can't find anything in the
logs that say it is blocking something. I suspect NIS because a week or so
ago I re-ran the firewall program scan and then the Excel font color thing
happened.

Perhaps someone can tell me what DLL is used to change font colors?

Windows XP SP2 with all latest updates. Office 2003 with all latest
updates. Norton Internet Security 2005 (8.0.2.5) with all latest updates.
Windows Firewall is turned off (as recommended by Norton).
