Epson Perfection 1670 SCANNER

When I try to start a scan I receive a "Please install the supported
TWAIN driver" message. When I download the new driver Windows does
not let me install the scanner saying it does not pass their security.
I am running Windows XP home version. This is my 2nd scanner with
this problem. The 1st 1670 worked fine for about 50 scans then
started receiving the same messages. This one will not work at all.
Any suggestions?

Microsoft put in that message to scare people.

What it really means is that the manufacturer didn't pay microsoft the
appropriate license fees. Many companies simply refuse to pay the
outlandish fees Microsoft requires. It has nothing to do with
functionality.
