DVD Reader Problems

Hey people,

Having some problems with my HP Presario 2100 DVD/CD-ROM drive. Device manager says that it is working properly but when I place a DVD in it doesnt read anything in the drive. It reads normal CDRs etc just not DVDs. In device manager it is called a 'QSI CDRW/DVD SBW-241'.

Any ideas why it won't be reading DVDs?

Had a similar problem . Uninstalled them and reinstalled them . Think it was to do with some software I'd installed . Thats all I can say . Good luck . :D

Hmmm, I'll be a little more blunt ... the drive is a heap of junk, replace it. ;)

There is a "Firmware update" that is suppose to "cure" this problematic drive ... try it, you may be lucky. :)
