Laptop Can't Read Double Reader But Can Read Dual Layer Dvd?

hi, i have a question about my laptop, compaq presario cq50 with a dvd drive of (optiarc dvd rw ad-7561 ata device). why does my dvd drive cant read double layer ( dvd+r DL) but can read and also burn dual layer dvd ( dvd-r DL ). Does anybody know why? how can i fix it? thanx in advance...
