I purchased a DVD-R 109 drive but cant get the DVD discs to record. I used
the recomended +RW and my windows says "the disc is not writeable". I updated
the driver to a 1.09 and still nothing. Any suggestions?

What software are you using to burn the DVD discs? XP has no in built
capability to burn DVDs.

A DVD-R drive needs DVD-R or DVD-RW disks, not DVD+ ones

I went to the Pioneer site and find that your drive will handle both "+" and
"-" DVD Discs. What program are you using to attempt the writes to "+RW"
discs? I hope you aren't trying to use the native Windows to accomplish
this as it won't handle DVD - it only works with CD R/RW discs. Please post
back with more information on what software you are using and how you are
applying it.

Windows cant write DVDs, only CDs. You need something like Roxio Easy CD 6.

Success! I installed Nero 6 program and I burned a movied onto disc but when
I try to play it on my tv/dvd it says "bad disc". It does play on my computer
drive though, but I want to paly it in my tv/dvd player.

Try using a DVD-R or -RW instead of the "+" discs.
