writing onto DVD-R

We are using the ACER ASPIRE T310 series, Intel (R),
celeron (R) CPU 2.60GHz, with an HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC 4521B
(1.02) Drive.

Our operating system is Windows XP Home edition, and are
using the NTI CD and DVD maker.

When attempting to use blank DVD to copy information to
Disc the computer is not reading the discs and stating
that there is no disc and no free
memory space.

The discs being used are BenQ 4X DVD-R blank discs and
other blank CD-R discs. The machine also says that there
are no discs inserted.

Do you have any idea why this is happening or any
solutions?

Check the DVD writers manual (or help section) if it is applicable to
read/write DVD-R. If not, use DVD+R blank DVDs and try again.

This is the first solution that comes to my mind.
Hope that helps.
