Well the subject is kind of self explanatory...ummm all i did was take out a
dvd-rw disk while it was burning on nero and it messed up...kind of stupid i
kno. ive reinstalled windows...disconnected and reconnected the drive,
updated the firmware, disabled and reenabled, uninstalled and reinstalled
both the driver and the programs...everything...im at my wits end! It does
the same thing for + and - and rw discs of different brands and cd-r discs...
any help will be appreciated in advance. and i will keep up to date... THANK
YOU.

Hi Kyle,

There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD into drive.

<Note from a previous poster>

Had a problem in XP where I couldn't explore any disk in my DVD
writer. Unchecked "Enable CD recording on this drive" in the
PROPERTIES/RECORDING window, and now can access the disk normally

It seems like you've done everything you could to try to get it working again.
Because Nero software-locks the drive while it's burning (eg you can't eject
the disc via conventional means), you may have damaged the drive while you
(forcefully) ejected your disc.

oooooooooooo damn.... all i did though was press the eject button on the dvd
drive...

Can be a bit tricky at times, Kyle. There are just so many keys involved
when dealing with third party. Hope you get it working at a comfortable
measure soon. Good luck and thanks for the feedback.)

I think you've said that you reinstalled XP, reinstalled Nero Express,
and that you still can't burn - I hate to ask, but have you completely
followed through the Nero process until you get to the EXIT button after
the burn?

I'm running Nero 6 on this laptop with a DVD+/-RW drive in it and just
burned 4 DVD+RW disks to backup files (just a copy, not the Nero backup
program). It works fine and can be seen by all my other computers.

Here's another idea - does the new drive burn at a higher speed than the
other machines can read? Could you be burning at 4X or 8X and the other
machines not be able to read it? Could it be the media you are using?

I use Memores DVD+RW disks, 4x, 4.7GB, and they have never presented a
problem in any of my DVD drives.

No...i didnt wait to do that...i did do what u said ive done and ive done a
couple other methods... i did not wait for the burning to finish. I pressed
the eject button while it was in the process of burning. and its not too fast
because its the only computer i have with a burner. so it is the only one
that can burn. ive tried making it slower but it still doesn't work. if you
read the help part that kelly put up can someone possible continue the help
with that?

well i'm really frantic and worried because i really want to get my burner
working again.

i did not wait for the burning to finish. I pressed
the eject button while it was in the process of burning.

If you don't wait for the burn to finish the DVD will not be usable in
almost all cases.

The drive itself can't be damaged by removing a DVD before the burn
completes, unless you forced the drive open.

I didn't see where you've stated that you are trying this with a new DVD
disk - have you tried to burn with a clean, formatted, DVD-RW disk?
