critical updates

It seems ironic to me that after my friend installed
critical updates to protect her computer, her Win/xp will
not boot up. She gets "WinLogon.exe - entry point not
found. The procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could
not be located inthe dynamic link library SHLWAPI.DLL"
Her computer did not come with the system operating cd.
How can she solve this problem?? Thanks for any info!

You may have picked up a worm w32.randex.e_ check
symantec.com for info. I believe winlogin.exe should run
on boot unless infected.
