What are the full specs of your current machine?

Knowing that would help but personally I feel if it's a Packard Bell you may be better off selling it and putting the money towards your new build.

The most likely reason your 1.8Ghz processor can't handle some games is it's probably not being supported by a decent grafix card. The video card and memory are the most influential factors in handling computer games.

Just a suggestion, but for the money this is what I'd choose for a gaming rig.

The extra fan is for the side of the case.

Apart from gaming this machine should handle all other tasks.

Bit of a compromise because of the budget. £596.74 inc postage.

You may get these components or similar cheaper at Scan, Aria or E-Buyer.

The gaming card, btw, has two games with it, one of which is Far Cry 2 :thumb:

And I'm assuming you don't need an operating system; monitor; mouse; keyboard; speakers; thermal compound (a tube of Arctic Silver Thermal Compound will take you about three quid over your budget limit).
