CD & DVD volume labels will not refresh nor display

Win XP Pro
CD & DVD volume labels will not display in properites.
And like everyone else with this problem, when a Volume Label does display
in Explorer, it will NOT change no matter how many F5 I try, nor does
closing & opening Explorer do any good.

I've tried MSVP sites, Registry sites, other forums, MS K.B. - and no where
have I found even a mention of htis problem's solution.

Common issue/bug in XP. Ignore the workarounds you have tried:

Suggestions:

Open My Computer, right click on the CD Rom in question,
Properties/Hardware/Properties/Volumes/Populate.

Other than that, this problem can occur if you are using Folder view in
Windows Explorer. The view may not be automatically refreshed in Folder view
in Windows Explorer.

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

Manually refresh Windows Explorer by pressing F5 or by clicking Refresh on
the View menu in Windows Explorer. And/or Do not use Folder view in Windows
Explorer.
