Volume name does not refresh when new CD or DVD inserted

Running XP Pro. When I insert a new DVD in the drive, it
doesn't display the volume name of the DVD, nor does it
appear in the properties. In order to read the volume
name of the DVD, I have to restart my machine. When it
reboots, it reads the volume name of the DVD in the drive
and displays it correctly. I don't want to have to
restart my computer every time I change a DVD or CD.
Please help.

My Computer just started to do this. Closest I can find for a possible
solution is http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817357. (fwiw, i find
bringing up the disk management snapin [diskmgmt.msc] seems to force a
refresh.)
