Can't install printer software

I cannot reinstall my HP k60 - keep getting already
installed msg. XP control panel/add-remove programs
indicates that the K60 software is still on the computer,
but won't give the change/remove options. There are no K60
files in directories and I have cleaned the registery per
HP support's guidance - no change. Norton clean sweep gives
nothing also.

Have you tried deleting the printer from the printer folder? Or installing the driver
in safe mode.

Is this a USB or parallel printer? If parallel port, go into BIOS setup and
look at configuration of port, make ECP or at least bi-directional. Plug and
play should see printer if on and connected at start up. Sometimes you can
go into C:\Windows\inf folder and delete inf file for a device so you can
re-install.
