Need to re-install

I have an HP ScanJet 4200C and an HP OfficeJet K60. I have various problems
with them and would like to reinstall them. I am on Windows XP Home Edition
(SP1).

How do I uninstall these? How do I make sure I have completely removed
everything from my hard drive and registry editor that has to do with these
2 devices? I figured I have to go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs
but where else are files, etc. stored? I did a search and found hp files in
folders called c:\sj445, c:\sj449cpy, c:\sj655, c:\sj655\English -- do these
all need to be deleted?

I've visited the HP web site and read what I could find on it.

I'm not real good with hardware issues and I only want to go through this
once and figured someone who is good at this could give me some advice. You
can probably tell from my questions that I'm a novice at hardware issues. I
know how to un-install software but hardware ...

Thanks,
Debbie

You should be able to just remove all HP software from Add/Remove
Programsn in the Control Panel, then remove them from the Scanners and
Cameras in the Control Panel (if they still exist). Now reboot,
reinstall the software, then reinstall the scanners.

Debbie, are these USB devices? For your Scanjet go here
http://tinyurl.com/6bqw9 Follow the instructions carefully
For your Officejet go here. http://tinyurl.com/678he
Don't delete any files or folders you are not sure of. Only delete or
remove from the Add/Remove in Control Panel. If they are USB Devices then
rt click on MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>USB
Controllers. rt click on each one and choose Uninstall. Disconnect all USB
devices before you do
this. Restart and let XP reinstall them.

I have an HP Officejet K60 and need to reinstall on Windows XP. I have uninstalled using Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and also using the HP uninstall utility but when I try to install the new driver I get a message "The installer has detected that you have already completed installation of this software". What can I do with this? Thanks.
