Hello: I could really use some help! When I boot up,
WindowXP goes into a loop...It tries to start up, but
brings me to a screen appoligizing for the inconvience,
and to pick an option or let WindowXP start on it's own.
Some of the options are Safe Mode, Safe Mode with
Networking, Last Configuration that worked. All options,
including letting Window XP start on it's own do not
work. Which ever option I pick, it tries to start up,
but end up bring me back to the We appoligize for the
inconvienace screen.
I have been on line with tech support. I was told to
download a 6 disk restore, which I did. However, while
on line with tech, and after installing the 6 disks
restore and options/prompts come up, my desktop shuts
down.
Has this happened to anyone, and do you know the fix.
Please Help!

You either have a bad driver, bad memory, or a virus. If you have antivirus
software such as NORTON on cdrom that can be run from the cdrom, run it. If
it comes back negative try to get into your BIOS and change a setting to
halt on errors instead of rebooting to see if you can get an error code to
define the problem. Check to see if you get a log that might tell you where
the bootup is failing. Can you access a restore point prior to your bootup
problem? How about doing a repair install if you have an actual XP cdrom to
bootup from?
