Can't boot into both Safe mode normal windows XP

Yesterday, I got a virus named Antivirus Plus. I tried to boot my coputer
into Safe Mode and remove the virus, but I can't boot into safe mode. Then I
started windows XP normally, and ran MSCONFIG, then I checked Safeboot box.
After that, I restarted my computer. My computer would not load in safe mode
or in normal mode at all, it just kept looping back to the same screen which
let you select boot mode. I have tried all the options on the screen, but no
one worked. Is there anyway to get back to msconfig and uncheck the safeboot
box without starting Windows? Really need help. Thanks.

You can regain control of your system from the XP Recovery Console,
but you will still have to deal with your infection after you boot
normally..

You will need to have the Recovery Console installed as a boot option
(usually unlikely), boot on an authentic XP installation CD (still
unlikely) which is not the same as a "recovery" or "system" CD that
came with your computer, or make your own bootable Recovery Console CD
(easy).

You now know that adding the /SAFEBOOT is not always a good idea!.

When you have completed the instructions to create a bootable Recovery
Console CD and tested it, come back for more guidance:

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file
and burning it to a CD.

The bootable ISO image file you need to download is called:

xp_rec_con.iso

Download the ISO file from here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use this free and easy program to create your bootable CD:

http://www.imgburn.com/

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on the computer that
is working.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD ROM
drive as the first boot device instead of the hard disk. These
adjustments are made before Windows tries to load. If you miss it,
you will have to reboot the system again.

When you boot on the CD, follow the prompts:

Press any key to boot from CD...

The Windows Setup... will proceed.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the Administrator password (usually empty).

You should be in the C:\WINDOWS folder. This is the same as the C:
\WINDOWS folder you see in explorer.

Jose,

Thanks for the info about the recovery console; handy pgm.

Couldn`t do anything you and others suggested as there was something
wrong; I think with maybe with a partition.
I finally got that corrected and used the system restore feature.
I restored the point I made when I upgraded to XP Pro.
That corrected any other problems and I can finally boot to windows.
Appreciate the replies from you all.

Many Thanks
buddy b
