Access denied while printing

I'm running WinXP home but cannot print. The job will show up in the
spooler queue, hang around for 15-20 seconds, then get deleted. In the
event log, I see event ID 61, error 0x5 (access denied). Seems like a
permissions problem but I can't figure out where I need to get access. Can
anyone help?

1. Delete all printer drivers. Let XP detect your printer.

2. Manually delete all printer drivers. Remove all associations from
registry of printer drivers. Get latest printer driver. Manually reinstall
printer driver.

3. Check manufacturers web site.

4. Do your own research.

5. Do not reply to this post.

After many hours of installing and uninstalling the HP driver and searching
the web for answers, I finally found some useful information last night. I
downloaded FILEMON from www.sysinternals.com. I installed this using the
admin account then switched to the limited account that had the print
problem. I right clicked the EXE and selected Run As and used the admin
account to run the program. I then tried to print something from notepad.
Lo and behold, I was told that I was being denied access to C:\windows\temp.
I logged back on to the administrator account and used the CACLS utility
program to add RW privileges on this folder to the users group.

c:\>cacls c:\windows\temp /E /G users:RW

Be careful using CACLS. If you forget /E, you will replace instead of edit
the permissions. Once I did this, my limited accounts could print.
