SP 1 problem

W

waterman

after fitting new harddrive,downloaded updates
(,security, driver, etc)also SP 1.
I get this message 'unsuccessful download of SP 1,'
"The core system file(kernal)used to start this
computer is not a MS Win. file"
see Q327101
My copy of XP is legal, no problem
registering, and i had no trouble putting SP 1 into the
system as loaded onto my last HD.
Any help with a solution will be much appreciated

So did you do as it suggested and check out Q327101? If not go to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q327101 and maybe you
will find your solution. Also, I don't know what you mean by fitting new
hardware, but if you have significantly changed the hardware on your
machine, XP may have to be re-activated. For example changing the
motherboard and/or CPU.

Good Luck
