Microsoft.NET Framework SP 1 won't install

I just updated my graphics driver, and was told,I needed to have MS.NET
Framework SP 1 installed for the driver update to be effective. On checking
updates, it has been downloaded but has failed to install several times.
Clicking on the "Failed" icon for more info leads to a blank page so I'm a
bit stuck - any ideas gratefully accepted.

Thanks for this - I'm not actually getting an error code; when I click on the
red "x" nothing happens and when I "open in a new page" a blank page opens.
Should I still go ahead and try the solution in article 824643?

I had this problem also, but when I investigated I found that I had installed
the BETA version of .NET framework 2.0. With this installed, the SP1 version
of .NET will NOT install. I went to the Add/Delete programs, removed .NET
BETA 2.0 and re-installed the update. Worked just fine.

Check your version of .NET.
