If I don't have your snail mail address (and you still wish to
participate in the initial distribution) please email it to me now
(remove whoi) or send it to the Pricelessware links button.

I need addresses for:

Achim (BC, Canada)
.....

Will e-mail it to you in a few minutes.

What about the option of making an ISO of the CD available for
download for those of us who have broadband? It would save time and
money. Does anyone have 700MB of online storage they could make
available for a few days?

Hi REM,

I haven't gotten to that yet. :) Advice from the group is welcome.

I've had trouble with some MD5 programs, so my inclincation is to have
more than one and include them on the CD.

I just uploaded a new page. The PW_CD column has these notations:

INCLUDED (permitted by the EULA or the author has given permission)
OMITTED (redistribution is not allowed)
asked (I have emailed the author requesting permission)

If you sort the page on the PW_CD column you will see about 50 programs
without *any* notation.

It is unclear from the information I have whether or not those programs
can be distributed and I don't have (good) email addresses for the authors.

If you use one of these programs please check the EULA, readme etc. and
post any useful information you find.

and/or

If you *have* an author's email address please email it to me (remove
whoi) or to the Pricelessware links button or mung the address and post it.

TIA :)

Susan

I use Star Downloader (though IT seems to decide when ;\). I looked
for an e-mail, but couldn't find any. Followed the help files to the
site for a contact (under support), and all I found there was an
online form for sending a message:

thanks for the info

hopefully, I can download the ISO and burn it and distribute it to anyone
who wants it in Thailand.
I can do it free of charge since it is too much of a hassle for me to wait
for their self addresses envelope. I think it will cost me less than US 60
cents to do it.

After the CD is created a few copies will be burned and sent to
alt.comp.freeware participants who have offered to help begin the
distribution process. (NOTE: an ISO of the CD may be available for
download if details can be worked out.)

We should talk about a place to download the iso from, I have a web server here.

Hi Susan,
re NoteTab Light:

7. Distribution License
------------------------
Provided that you verify that you are distributing the most recent version
of NoteTab Light, you are hereby licensed to make as many copies of the
NoteTab Light package as you wish; give exact copies of the original
NoteTab Light package to anyone; and distribute the NoteTab Light package
in its unmodified form via electronic means (Internet, BBS's, Shareware
distribution libraries, CD-ROMs, etc.). You may charge a distribution fee
for the package, but you must not represent in any way that you are selling
the software itself.

re Spybot - Search & Destroy:

III. Distribution
Here are some basic rules about distributing Spybot-S&D.

III.a. Private distribution
You may give away single copies of the software as long as you don't modify
this license or other files of the archive.

III.b. Mirroring
If you want to mirror Spybot-S&D, feel free to do so as long as you don't
modify the original archive. If you want to be kept up to date about major
updates, you can subscribe to the mailing list.
Official mirrors need to fulfill the Mirror Policy I created (link will be
inserted here).

III.c. Publishing
You may publish Spybot-S&D in a book or magazine (or other media) by simply
sending a written request for permission, including a description of your
specific needs. I request a copy of the media in which SpyBot-S&D is
published as compensation.

To ask permission to include the software on CD you have to fill a form in
this page:

re WS_FTP LE, in the EULA I can't find anything clearly stated about
redistribution:

SCOPE OF GRANT. You may:
· use the Software on one or more computers;
· use the Software on a network, provided that each person accessing the
Software through the network must have a copy licensed to that person
· copy the Software for archival purposes, provided any copy must contain
all of the original Software's proprietary notices.

You may not:
· permit other individuals to use the Software except under the terms listed
above;
· modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble (except to the
extent applicable laws specifically prohibit such restriction), or create
derivative works based on the Software;
· rent, lease, grant a security interest in, or otherwise transfer rights to
the Software; or
· remove any proprietary notices or labels on the Software.

EXPORT CONTROLS. None of the Software or underlying information or
technology may be downloaded or otherwise exported or reexported (i) into
(or to a national or resident of) Cuba, Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia, North
Korea, Iran, Syria or any other country to which the U.S. has embargoed
goods; or (ii) to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of Specially
Designated Nationals or the U.S. Commerce Department's Table of Denial
Orders. By downloading or using the Software, you are agreeing to the
foregoing and you are representing and warranting that you are not located
in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any such country or
on any such list.

I was going to put it on my site. The space is no problem, but the
bandwidth might be. I'm right at 12 gigs out of 30 for March, so I
have 18 gigs to spare. I guess I'm good for 20 downloads or so per
month.

Maybe derek and someone else can provide for alternate download sites
to allow for faster proliferation.

Or, possibly one of the programs like WinMX can be used by some of the
first people to get the image to allow others with fast connections to
get it from them.

Can anyone volunteer to get the image and make it available a via file
sharing program?

I take the last sentence to mean that you may make a personal copy to
archive. It can be argued that it means you may make a copy available
to the public as long as the notices are intact though.
You may not:

How to keep copies from being distributed to these countries?

As great as this program is, I don't feel it is safe to redistribute
it :(

WAssociate: Redistributable

because: no licence file as such nor any "no-distribution" clause in
the distribution (zip archive) or program. No help-about screen
either. Only thing with info in the archive is the (very helpful as
such) manual pages (html), which can also bee seen online. The
WAssociate.html page (framed, open index.html) in the archive says the
same as the online page (also framed) about status:
<http://www.xs4all.nl/~wstudios/Associate/index.html>:
<http://www.xs4all.nl/~wstudios/Associate/WAssociate.html>

<quote>
"WAssociate is FreeWare written for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 200
and XP.".
</quote>

Can not find any other info about this on the authors main page:

Agree, if that is what the EULA says - then WS_FTP LE is a no go.
