Pricelessware CD

Aha, now I understand, it is the image file which is included on the CD,
not the image printed out. Oooops, sorry.

But, if I could not understand this from the text, and not Steven Burn
either, maybe the text should be modified just to make it easier to
understand.

I agree, text that's confusing needs to be modified. :) Do you think
this is an acceptable revision:

The image file for the first (black and white) cover is included on the CD?

Do you have any suggestions for improvement in the wording?

I volunteer to be a burner.

Thanks Mark :) If you want your email address shown on the site let me
know.
On the above mentioned page...
"In the subdirectory replace the dvdsig.md5 file from the CD with a copy
of dvdsig.md5 downloaded from the Pricelessware site."
Where do I find the dvdsig.md5 file on the Pricelessware site?

ACK!!! Thank you!!! I totally forgot about putting that URL on the page.
It's:

Susan,
Still no sign of the CD. Did you use US Post or send by courier?

US Postal Service - air-letter post - estimated delivery time 4-7 days

I see the Thailand CD has arrived. :) I could have hand-delivered yours
in less time than it's taking. . . :(
By the
way, you can munge the e-mail addys of the burners with this url so they
dont show and aren't picked up by spammers. You can put mine up.

Thanks - I'll add you to the list - encoding is a good idea - I may not
get to it right away - I seem to be keeping busy. :)

Hi PuppyKatt,

Does "Um" mean you want to be listed on the web page? :)

If you do please tell me the email address I should use. (some of you
burners have more than one email addie - I don't want to put the wrong
one on the web page).

OK, I haven't read your revised page (waiting for the next revision
;), but I HAVE read 141 messages in this thread, and here's my two
cents on distribution:

Lets make the PL2004 CD "participationware". Ask anyone who requests
a copy to agree to provide copies for two other people. Those who have
burners themselves may choose to fill a request off the newsgroup, or
by providing a couple of copies to their local public library and/or
high school.

Those who don't can fulfill their obligation by allowing someone
local to them to burn a copy (under the same terms). This should
spread the CD far and wide fairly quickly with relatively little
effort.

CD labels are nice (unless they're uncentred and destroy the CD and
maybe the player), but I haven't gotten around to making any for
myself yet, and don't propose to do it for others. Let's remain
focused on the essentials, otherwise we risk having the whole project
collapse under its own weight.

Remember, next year the hard work won't be half as much fun.

I've revised the CD web page - I think it's close to ready.

I would appreciate some feedback - *especially* from the volunteer burners.

I *hope* that people will make copies. I don't think it should be a
requirement. The readme says recipients *may* make copies - next year
perhaps we can *urge* them to make copies and pass them on. Perhaps add
a list of places that might appreciate receiving a copy.

There aren't any *labels*. There are *covers* - one on the CD, others
available at the Pricelessware site - IMO a printed cover adds a nice
touch - but that is an optional extra. . .

To balance that - IMO next year it will require less work - as we should
be a bit more organized. ;)

I can think of one place that may appreciate donated copies: your local
public school

I have downloaded the .iso and burned 4 copies so far.. 2 for daughters and
2 for friends.. I have no idea how to make it available via BitTorrent to
others and at the moment I don't have a web site.. I hope to be back on line
with a site in the very near future and will post it at that time.. This is
mainly to say Thank You to everyone who made this possible.

If you have the iso, you find someone else's bittorrentlink and click on
it. That's if you've a) got bittorent installed and b)got the same iso.

That's it. Easy. A bit bandwidth hungry, but if you have no caps you
could perhaps leave it running over night. Maybe.
