One or more messages in your outbox do not have a valid account sp

Do you get an error message when you try? If so, right-click on the
error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

If your only email is a free Yahoo account, be advised that most
free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP access.
Windows Mail does not handle webmail.
There are three possible solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

3. Another option is called YPOPs. It is free, but requires some technical
knowledge to implement:

where do I find the POP email address furnished by my ISP

You can pay Yahoo $19.99 per year for their Mail Plus service which does
have POP access:
http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com

You said you have an Internet service provider (ISP). Why don't you
use the POP email address furnished by your ISP?

Gary,

I had the same problem as other people of having messages stuck in my outbox
and not being able to send it so I followed your below advice of selecting
the 32 bit option for windows vista. Then a "Logon to windows mail" window
pops up. It says: "Please verify that both the user name and password are
correct server." So, I type in my user name and password but it won't take.
so I don't know whether I have a wrong user name and password or if something
else is wrong. I called my internet service provider and he said that if my
server is yahoo.com, then my user name and password should be the same for my
yahoo email account. Well, it doesn't work. The "Logon to windows mail"
window still stays there so I hit "cancel" several times and I get a message
on another screen that says: "Account: " Windows Mail", server:
'pop.mail.yahoo.com, Protocol: POP3, Server Response:-ERR[AUTH] invalid
user/password', Port: 110, secure (SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90 Error
Number: 0X800CCC92.

So I am really frustrated. Can you help me? Sorry for being so wordy and
computer illiterate.

You mean, the POP3 mail server name, or your personal email address,
such as (e-mail address removed)?
Tell us who your ISP is, and if you already have an email address, tell us
the part after the @ symbol.

this fix did not load for me: says it is not applicable to my system

Ms Gracie. Do not highjack other posts with your problem, you only confuse the system.
Start your own post with your own problem description.
Be sure to post exact copies of an error messages and provide details on your system.

Hi, I had the same problem with getting the message saying "One or more
messages in your outbox do not have a valid account specified", well I
figured out how to fix it on my own, what I did is go to the windows mail and
click on Tools, then click on accounts and you will see Mail, News,
Directory Service, well I double clicked on the NEWS part where it says
Microsoft Communities (default) and it took me to another screen and I just
added my name and one of my email address's there and clicked on the box that
says : Include this account when checking for new messages and clicked apply,
then ok, and it has seemed to fix the error message from popping up. I sent a
test message to one of my other email address's and a #1 showed up beside the
outbox then went away and went to my imap. sent box. Well Good Luck and I
hope this helps!!!

will dissapear and go into my imap. sent box. Good Luck and I hope this

Gary,

I am receiving the same error message and have tried downloading both the 32
and 64 bit and receive the following message "the update does not apply to
your system". Yet, I still receive the message "One or more messages in your
outbox do not have a valid account specified. Would you like to use your
default account to send these messages? Whether I respond yes or no the
outbound message will not go. Can you help?

Thanks.

Use the Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

Is there a windows fix available for the following or is there something else
I should be looking for? "One or more messages in your Outbox do not have a
valid account specified. Would you like to use your default account to send
these messages?" I am unable to send email but have no problem receiving. I
have checked my gmail settings in the account, tried the windows fix
mentioned above, and checked my anti-virus software so far.

Gary, I tried the update, but when I downloaded it and tried to install it a
window came up and stated "This updated does not apply to your system" . I
then tried the 64 bit fix and it stated the same thing. Is there anything
else I can try. I don't know how this forum works, so please respond not only
here, but at my address at (e-mail address removed). Thank you.

That notification means your system doesn't need the hotfix because
you already have Vista's SP1 installed.

Are you able to delete the message that is in the Outbox folder, and
then can you send a new message? If no improvement, delete that
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If still no improvement, I suggest upgrading to Windows Live Mail:
