Why is this? And what do I do to be able to open the attmnt once again?

I had the same problem with a wmv windows mail attachment. I viewed the
video then closed wmp and tried to replay got the error command failed ....
I went on to another attachment and wmp opened, realized I'd seen it before
closed the window but it kept playing, I could hear it. I opened the wmp and
there the video was. I waited until the end and clicked on stop at the
bottom. Went back to the wmv attachment that wouldn't play again and opened
the attachment and it played! Strange and I agree that it is a "Vista bug"

I am now suddenly getting this error as well. I run NO anti-virus software.
Any attachments cannot be opened. WMV, PPS, DOC, TXT, nothing.

Where can I report this issue directly to Microsoft? Windows Live Mail has
become useless.

I did not know this. So I just downloaded Windows Live Mail (as I have Vista
and was using Windows Mail). Window Mail still gives the Command cannot
execute error and Windows Live Mail just does nothing, no error popup, cannot
open or save any attachments.

Did you ever have an antivirus installed? Most new computers come with
a trial version of Norton or McAfee antivirus. Any other third party security
software, like anti-spyware?

I installed AVG, did a scan, then removed it. Maybe it corrupted something?
If it did, I would think reinstalling Windows Live Mail would work, but it
didn't, any other solutions? I'm going to look for an AVG cleaner.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. I went to the AVG site, and found the
"AVG Remover" tool, ran it, and now I can get to my attachments again.

Thanks for help!

Thanks for reporting back.
I'll have to add that AVG remover tool to my bag of tricks.

Make sure you're not running one of the non-compatible
antivirus programs, McAfee or Norton.

Vista problem!!
To correct go to:-
Windows Mail
Tools
Options
Security
2nd Box must be blank ( do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a virus)
Apparently things get changed on updates that we don't see!
If it recurs check to see iof box has become ticked again, if not come out
of windows mail and then go in again and it should be okay.

Vista again!!!!!!!!
Go into Windows Mail
Tools
Options
Security
make sure 2nd BOX is NOT ticked ( It says Do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus )
This should do it.
If it happens again check settings again if they are still okay come out of
Windows Mail and go in again and all should be well.

I've read all of these solutions and none works. I run the Kaspersky
antivirus so that shouldn't be an issue and I've also tried checking and
unchecking the boxes under the Security tab. I had absolutely 0 issues
previously, in fact this problem only arose about a week ago so I strongly
suspect that it came with a Microsoft update of some sort. I'm also now
getting 'Internet Explorer Script Errors' on some E-mails also a problem that
wasn't present a week ago. I guess the obvious questio is MICROSOFT WHEN CAN
YOU FIX THIS??

I have tried your suggestion. Box is now unchecked, it worked for two emails
and not for others. Any suggestions?
