When you watch various videos on youtube.com, you're always
downloading the same type of data (Flash video) from the same site, is
that right? Or do some videos involve different sites?

Regarding youtube and malware - is it possible to get malware from
some youtube videos and not others?

Regarding the computer's memory - when you play these videos, it uses
a lot of memory - but it's the same regardless of which clips, right?

Certainly.

No, the amount of memory used would depend primarily upon the specific
viewing application required by each video, as well as the size and
quality of the video, itself. Having said that, if you're viewing from
a single source, it's likely that the videos are going to be of the same
file format, and therefore use the same "viewer;" thereby making the
memory usage for those videos more dependent upon size and quality.

Thanks. Today FF3 crashed twice while watching youtube videos so I
rebooted.
It again crashed on youtube's SEARCH PAGE and not while playing a
video - hence the problem could be a corrupted FF, other malware, or
even a problem with my AV.

I've used youtube so long without a problem so I'm not sure.

The problem here is more to do with the Flash plugin than Firefox.
-
Flash has been known to give rise to memory leaks which cause the host
browser to malfunction after a long period of running animations. It is also
vulnerable to several malware exploits.

Anteaus, what should I do if the problem persists, apart from
reinstalling flash?
I have the latest Flash now.

Hi again Richard,

Also, poor scripting on the web page can also cause crashes. I used to
keep cnbc open in a tab in FF, but it would crash every day after having
it open for a while (taking down all my other tabs of course). I
started using IE just for that page but the same thing would happen.
There are a lot of script errors on the page and cnbc doesn't seem to
care about fixing them.
