Yellow Exclamation Point for CD and DVD drives

Hi;

My daughter's computer is a Dell 8xxx running XP. She called last night to
tell me that neither of her drives work and that there is a yellow
exclamation mark besides the devices in Device Manager.

I consulted Help & Support and found a message which described a fix (remove
upper and lower filters), but the message said that it applied to Win2000.

Is the message also applicable to XP ?

Open the Device Manager, right-click on each CD or DVD drive
and click "Uninstall". Restart the computer and Windows XP will
reinstall them properly.
